On-sky measurements of atmospheric dispersion – II. Atmospheric models characterization

چکیده

Differential atmospheric dispersion is a wavelength-dependent effect introduced by Earth's atmosphere that affects astronomical observations performed using ground-based telescopes. It important, when observing at zenithal angle different from zero, to use an Atmospheric Dispersion Corrector (ADC) compensate this dispersion. The design of ADC based on models that, the best our knowledge, were never tested against on-sky measurements. We present extensive analysis in wavelength range 315-665 nm. method we used was previously described paper I series. cross-dispersion spectrographs determine position centroid spatial profile each spectral order. accuracy 18 mas. At level, are able compare and characterize interest. For better future designs, recommend avoid Zemax model, particular blue spectra, expecting residuals level few tens milli-arcseconds.

Stochastic models for atmospheric particle dispersion

Simple stochastic differential equation models have been applied by several researchers to describe the dispersion of tracer particles in the planetary atmospheric boundary layer and to form the basis for computer simulations of particle paths. To obtain the drift coefficient, empirical vertical velocity distributions that depend on height above the ground both with respect to standard deviatio...

Influence of Landscape Variability on Atmospheric Dispersion

Using idealized distributions of surface moisture, it is shown that with a significant synoptic prevailing flow over these regions of surface variability, dispersion is generally enhanced over heterogeneous surfaces as compared to horizontally homogeneous conditions. The importance of the heterogeneity becomes less, however, as the large scale wind speed increases and/or the spatial scale of th...

Measurements of Atmospheric Antiprotons

We measured atmospheric antiproton spectra in the energy range 0.2 to 3.4 GeV, at sea level and at balloon altitude in the atmospheric depth range 4.5 to 26 g/cm. The observed energy spectra, including our previous measurements at mountain altitude, were compared with estimated spectra calculated on various assumptions regarding the energy distribution of antiprotons that interacted with air nu...

Statistical evaluation of centerline concentration estimates by atmospheric dispersion models

Abstract: Within the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) a Standard Practice (Z6849Z ) is being developed to provide an objective statistical procedure for comparing air quality simulation modeling results with tracer field data. The practice is limited to steady-state local-scale transport from isolated point sources in simple terrain. Evaluation data having similar external cond...

Assessment of atmospheric dispersion from ANPP hypothetical accident based on Fukushima accident by HYSPLIT model

The atmospheric dispersion of Materials is one of the most important ways of spreading contamination of a NPP accident. In this study, the particle paths were calculated by HYSPLIT model (both pressure and AGL form of trajectory) horizontally and vertically at 0 and 1.5 meters above ground level during 15-day periods for 23& 24 November 2006 start times. Then, the releases values of Fukushima a...
